Array HEY MICHIGAN FENCERS! Are you coming down here to Indiana for the Decicco Open? You can come and beat me on my turf for a change.
I'd love too see you guys.
It's Sept. 16 at Notre Dame.
For complete details see my post in the Tournament Section. CAUTION: The heart is a fragile thing. Handle with care. -

Array Even if I could fence, I'd have to pass. You see, Sept 16th is my 6 year wedding anniversary. "Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind."

Array I passed through Schoolcraft County, Michigan, this summer...ring any bells, Moonitic? It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag. - Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC -

Array When I was at the Duelist open I wondered who the folks from EDL were as I hadn't ever seen or heard of any of them before and they seemed to have considerable skill at Epee. I think I found the answer to who they were and what the club name is. :-) Were you the lady with the A in epee at the competition or was it one of your clubmates?

Array Mike I only have an A in my dreams.
I do fence epee, but have only just started with it. It was probably Louise or Eleanor. They are both formidable. It should be a really good tourny. I hope you can make it.
BTW Escrime du Lac took 3 trophies at the Duelist. Most of us had a good day..I on the other hand had major equipment problems that day.
Also had you come to the 3 weapon tourny at Renaissence you would have met me there.
I'm really hoping that we can get a healthy rivalry going with you guys up north. CAUTION: The heart is a fragile thing. Handle with care. -

Array Ah yes, the dreaded equipment failures the day of the event. I try to have all mine the evening before when I'm testing my gear. I had some new ways of breaking my weapons that evening like when I tightened the pommel and my wooden grip broke on my favorite epee. I'm glad I had enough metal french grips to go around. The thorough going over I did was worth it though as this was the first tournament that I've ever gone to where I didn't break or have to adjust a single weapon the entire tournament and had no equipment related cardings (A first for me in epee).
I don't think I'll be going to this particular event, but I don't mind pleasant rivalries, I grow weary of the unpleasant ones sometimes.
I'll keep an eye out for other tournaments to go to in your neck of the woods, I'd love to meet this Eleanor and Louise now that epee is my main weapon now too.
