Just recently got back my custom baskethilt, scabbard and baldric. Its a thing of beauty to behold and even more of a beauty to use.

For those of you that are confused, THIS is what a real sword is!
Cross me and you'll find that under this playful boyish exterior beats the heart of a ruthless sadistic maniac. ~Blackadder http://fencingblog.wordpress.com
Yeah, going the custom route is not a cheap one! However since this is something that I already treasure and something I plan to pass on to my future family, I feel it was money well spent. Now I just need to come up with another rationalization to buy another one... One for each kid maybe?
Here is the original weapon it was based off of.
Well, how do you know what sort of sword will speak most to which of your children? I mean, perhaps he'll prefer something a bit thinner (rapier perhaps?), or something a bit more subtle (falchion?). I mean, you owe to your progeny to have sufficient choices, right?
(and now we know why I don't have the means, I can ALWAYS talk myself into spending money)
VERY pretty, indeed! A fine Jacobite highland design, with "S" bars and all--almost looks like it could have come from MacAllan, himself. (Thank God it's not one of those awful brass abominations from India... )
The only thing needed now to make it complete is a bit of British Redcoat material sewn into the basket.
Nothing is more frightening than ignorance in action.
