| Messed up finger, nationals in a few days. What to do? Hey,
Yesterday someone slammed a seriously heavy door on my right index finger (right handed). Nationals for me start on Friday. What can I do other than keep it elevated and ice? It is not broken, moderate swelling, by now I can bend it fine without pain but only about 1/2 way, it is still swolen and very stiff.
Think it will be OK by Friday? Should I be moving it around a lot or keeping it in a splint?
Baaaaaaaaaaad timing... I'm worried! |

Baaaaaaaaaaad timing... I'm worried! | If it isn't, you can always fence left handed. |

Baaaaaaaaaaad timing... I'm worried! | I slammed my finger in a big, 200 lb. prison-grade door at a detention facility several months ago. It hurt. A lot. The nurse looked at it and just gave me an ice pack. The swelling was down a good bit in a few days, and it did not affect my fencing at all. If you are sure that it's not broken, a splint might not do much good. Ice and elevation should help. Then again, I'm not a doctor. Getting some medical advice wouldn't hurt.

| Stop using the keyboard! (I know my daughter had a pretty bad sprain a couple of months ago before a big meet...Her foot was incredibly swollen -- it still is -- and she was limping all the way to en guarde....I think you won't know until you get there! Ice helped her....Good Luck!) |

| I meant dramamine should stop posting on fencing.net and give HIS finger a rest. (The rest of the posting was parenthetical because it referred to a different situation...) |

| Actually, I consider the rest of the posting to be parenthetical because it was enclosed in parentheses, but I'm a literallist in some matters. |
