Poll is flawed.

My second favorite sport to DO is swimming. However, I dislikes watching swimming (in person or on TV).
I like watching hockey (though I don't like the fights.), but I wouldn't want to play it.

Which type of like are you talking about?

I enjoy doing Karate. I love to watch boxing (the DeLa Hoya fight was a streetfighter vs. a professional boxer. Oscar took him apart. Guess he ain't a bi*ch after all.)

I also love football. Go Seahawks! (and yeah, we was robbed.)

To watch: Volleyball or competitive Kayaking or gymnastics or figure skating (or fencers trying to play basketball. heheheheheh) or baseball

to do... badmitten, sailing, volleyball with small children.

I feel like I should like Rugby, but I can't abide to watch the sport because people get hurt too much. I just want to run out onto the field and make them stop ("use your words, people!"). *Sigh*

Love gymnastics and football as in soccer. At the moment my favourites are Rugby and Gaelic football, now that is a cool sport.

My favorite sport to compete in is rimfire (.22 caliber) benchrest rifle matches. Last season I was ranked 2nd in NY and PA and in the top 10% nationally. It often conflicts with fencing competitions and it always wins out.

To watch: American Football without a doubt! I'm a huge Packers fan and own stock in the franchise.

Hi!

While this poll is not flawed in the logical sense of the word, it sure is badly constructed. The poll alternatives contain 5 team ball sports, and all other sports are lumped together into the "other" alternative.

A better set of alternatives would have been:
1. Opponent- combat
2. Opponent - court
3. Opponent - team
4. Opponent - other
5. Achievement - target
6. Achievement - display
7. Achievement - strength
8. Achievement - endurance
9. Achievement - other
10. Mixed-type sports

I took this classification from wikipedia, BTW.

A poll where the most popular alternative, at almost half of the votes, is "other" is inherently badly constructed.

Have a nice time!

Your point is valid if I was trying to determine what other types of sports people like. However, I was actually curious what other specific sports people like. With a limited number of choices I could offer other was bound to be a popular choice.

I chose the sports I did not due to type but becuase generally speaking those are the most popular sports in America and large portions of the rest of the world (soccer)

Though apparently fencers dont like basketball, maybe its cause we're bad at it

As to the question of doing vs. watching if given a choice between watching sport A and doing sport B which one would you pick?

hmm, to do other than fencing my favorite is skiing, no doubt. I also like to play volley ball. I am quite good at both of these and also at softball, however, coincidentally, I absolutely despise playing it. I also like watching football (american) although unfortunately it is not a great time for the eagles, college basketball (although I always seem to be almost there in my pool and manage to lose becuase my pick loses in the finals), and watching the Yankees play baseball. I also like rock climbing and cycling (to play) and enjoy watching the tour de france.

Because they're even worse than I am,and the whole point is getting a ball over the net rather than getting all competitive. It's so exciting when they actually manage to bop it back and forth a couple of times! Also, my knees are too bad for me to play with adults.

It's a tie between Tennis and Ultimate frisbee, the former I've played all my life and is my cross training sport, and the latter is perhaps the most brilliant athetlic activity next to fencing invented by humanity.

What Point Left said about the poll. There is no option for "I have no other favorite sport".

I will watch women's tennis or beach volleyball, of course, but it isn't for the sport.

Honetly, I can't think of a sport I would watch for itself. And I don't do any others.
