| Las Vegas World Cup host hotel / venue? Does anyone have a confirmed information on the host hotel / venue for the upcoming World Cup (June 18)? I'm on my way to Las Vegas this weekend to ref at the PCS Champs, and I'm thinking about checking out the locations while I'm in the area. I'm heading off to airport in like 20 min... so I guess I'll check up on the responses when I get to Vegas. I'll be asking the local sources as well, of course.

| South Coast and when I say South, I mean SOUTH. If you are at the South end of the strip you have a little over 7 miles to go SOUTH to reach it.
It appears to have enough space, considering one area was designed as the largest indoor horse arena in the U.S., 26 theaters, a bowling alley and a lot of convention space.

| The information I had came from the Red Rock Fencing Center in Las Vegas. It may have been changed. I will check this weekend with Frank.
I have tried the FIE, USFA, Stardust and South Coast web sites without any confirmation. So now, I am not sure.

| Venue for Las Vegas I have the USFA published information for the "FIE WORLD CUP: Grand Prix "A" Women's Sabre, Women's Foil" and it has Stardust Resort & Casino, 3000 Las Vegas Blvd listed as the hotel and venue. There is a link for discounted hotel rooms at the Stardust - http://www.stardustlv.com good until May 17th, which is also the registration deadline listed on these forms. Hoping this is accurate information. |

| StarDust The Stardusk is the food poisoning leader in Vegas. Beware!!!
When you try to check in they like to make you wait for your room. After waiting two hours we finally said to put us anywhere and suddenly there was a room. It was non smoking just like what we wanted but kind of crappy.
You gotta be firm with them and watch what you eat.
We are staying elsewhere this year. There was also a doody in the pool.

The Denny's across the street has really good and fast breakfasts.

| Stardust is also scheduled for demolition this year. It's being replaced by yet another Wynn something or another, I believe.

| Ok, so what is "fairly close," less likely to have a pool with floating toddler left-overs, and not $300 a night? |

| Also this is a Grand Prix for Sabre only. Foil is not a Grand Prix event meaning any lady with Senior Points can enter. Sabre is limited to 20 for the U.S. http://international.usfencing.org/news.htm
Close is a relative term. There are double-decker buses that go up and down the strip, so you could be further than walking distance and still be considered close or you might have a car. Stratosphere is fairly nice and usually not expensive. Stardust is on the NE corner of Desert Inn. One block north is Circus, which is also inexpensive and one block north of that is Sahara, which has Statoshere and Sahara diagonally across from each other. Block along the strip are Very Long Blocks. There are a number of hotels behind the majors on each side of the strip.
What do you consider close? Will you have a car? Do you mind public transportation?

| Thank you for all the info! Time to go online and check this out...(No, I will not have a car..."Close" would be walking distance, I guess, with my daughter carrying her fencing bag in what I assume will be fairly hot weather...I had booked at the Stardust but Mo's comments made me think twice about this...) |

| Check out this map http://www.vegastodayandtomorrow.com/condomap.htm
The Stardust is in C6
The nicest hotels within reasonable walking distance are
The Wynn
The Venetian
The Mirage
TI
Second tier would be
Riviera
Circus Circus
Frontier
But I would keep in mind that reasonable walking distances become much shorter when you're lugging fencing equipment and its 110 degrees outside. |

| Are these events open to the public? I can't find information anywhere as to ticket prices. I have the schedules and locations, but can I come watch?
