    tap a stripped tip

I have a brand new German epee blade in which the seller apparantly used the wrong screws and the tip threads are stripped. Do I have to buy a new German tip or is there a way to run a tap down and fix the threads like you do with a stripped nut? If so what size and TPI tap do I need?

Try using Leon Paul screws, they should be able to cut new threads. But after that you can only use LP screws in those holes.

It would definately be cheaper and easier to get a new tip than it would be to find a tap for an obscure metric thread I would think.

I think that the inside of the loop of most sabre blades is thicker than that. You could probably find a suitable tap. I don't know why you'd want a screw in there, though.

Just in case you were wondering where to get this size of tap,

Oddly enough, I got mine off of Ebay. See site below:

If you do in fact get this tap, be sure to let them know you need a bottoming tap.
