| first post Hi all,
I'm new to fencing.net, even tho I've been fencing for about 15 years now. My primary weapon is epee, although I've been dabbling in foil recently. I started fencing in high school in NJ and the continued in college at Brown. After graduation, I fenced in Boston for a few years before taking a job as a fencing coach.
Most recently I've been fencing in MN while I'm in grad school.
Not much really to say other than "hello". Thanks! |

| Welcome! I too got my start fencing epee on a New Jersey High School team, sadly. Took a lot of work to correct what it left me with.
Which school did you fence for, back in the day?

| Lawrenceville I fenced for the Lawrenceville School in NJ, graduating in 1994.
Believe me, I have my share of bad habits from that time as well. |

| Believe it! Y'know Brad, I was surprised as hell when you started fencing sabre.
I even won the Div II/Div III qualifiers in MN. Granted only 5 people showed up, but I'll take it!
RIT, was Lawless still coaching at VHS when you were there? |

| Hi Dirk.
Yes, I'm in MN. The fencing is fine for what I am after at this point. I'm no longer training seriously so the more relaxed atmosphere of this division works pretty well for me.
As I said in my intro, I'm in graduate school at the U of M in geology. I'm basically fencing when my studies allow me to, which prevents me from going great guns. Also, my income as a grad students means that I can't travel very far for competitions. Even though I've been here for more than a year, I have yet to go to a competition outside of the Twin Cities. (although I'll be changing that in 2 weeks at the Midwest Sectional). |

| Yeah, he's actually still there. Really nice man, but I should bill him for all the lessons I had to get to fix what he taught me.
