My teen was taking care of his first order of business, namely, schoolwork! He had a boatload of it, and was running on a sleep deficit. Just couldn't wake up on Sunday early enough. He did what he really had to do last week at the U19's, both weapons, so we can't complain too much!

Scheduling sure could have been better for the high school fencers. AP exams, SATs ... there was a lot going on last week.

Yes, this time of year is pretty tough for the high-schoolers, but also for the college students (which is why my no-longer-a-teen student was not there this weekend either - finals this week). I guess that's why successful student-athletes are so impressive to colleges. Being able to do well in both arenas, finding the time to do it all and not cracking under the pressure - it is really quite an astonishing accomplishment for a young person!

Think about being a teacher this time of year and managing to compete! It's insane.
