| Results and pictures The main results are up. Team USA had a great day finishing in the top 8. We saw very good bouts. The whole team work very hard and fence very good. The bout to get into the top 8 was against CHN. It was one of the best bouts ever. A lot of suspense. CHN start leading the gap start getting larger and then team USA took the monster out of the cage (this is Ivan Lee story). Mr Crompton the monster, the bull,..... He is amazing he scored more than 10 points just like that. boom boom boom. After Crompton team USA was able to keep a small gap and then at the end was the gran finale. Ivan Lee in the piste. Between Ivan's flunges and point in line team China was too confuse. It was amazing. Ivan was flying and scoring one after another one. We have some pictures at www.fencingchannel.tv showing Ivan's attack and also the whole team cheering Ivan. We will have more picture coming soon. Also we will make a DVD with this match. I something to look at it. As team USA was cheering today "belive baby you can do it".
Congrats to team USA and his coach.
Team USA: Ivan Lee, Adam Crompton, Jason Rogers and Tim Morehouse.

I thought the fencing in the final was quite nice, with a lot of very clean actions--many nice parry-ripostes by both fencers and a nice use of defensive line by Nemscik early on--although Nemscik made life hard on himself in the last part of the bout.
Directing was very solid--the director generally awarded the touch to the first fencer to attack even in quite tight situations, and penalized Nemscik in particular a couple of times for a very slight hesitancy and lifting/pulling back of the hand--I thought these were bad decisions the first time through, but on a second watching believe I understand why he called the actions the way he did--although it was real tight.
How much fencing will you have on the DVD? Please let us know when it is available. | The whole competition was a blast. As Montano told us this competitions was more difficult than the olympics.
The DVD will be ready at the end of the month. There will be a lot of fencing in the dvd. Several bouts and interviews (Pozdiakov, Montano, etc)plus the score, lights and commentary.
The DVD of the last year Junior World Championships AUT 05 is available at the fencing.net store if you want to see Limbach winning the title.
We will add today the semifinal match of Marti ESP v. Limbach and a very cool interview with team USA just after they beat CHN. They were very sight.
Enjoy

| Where is the tableau? You keep asserting that all results are up, but where is the most exciting part - the DE tableau? |

| Dear Fencing Pictures,
When you make the DVD available, if possible could you include an option to disable the commentary? Sometimes it's better to just watch the bout without the commentary getting in the way. I don't know much about A/V stuff, but this would be a great benefit I think.
Not to be derisive of the commentary on these things, it's usually pretty well above acceptable. But I just like to have the option to enjoy the experience myself.
As for the final bout that was posted on the FP website, I have to say I haven't enjoyed watching a world cup or any world level sabre bout as I did this one in a while. It was very very clean, very precise just amazing fencing.
Good stuff.

| Do they fence out all places in Team events? Because otherwise I'm wondering why USA, seeded 5th going into the 8, ended up 8th at the end? Anyone have the complete team results?
Edit: Wow.. incredible video of the GM individual match. Thats EXACTLY the kind of video I want to see. EXACTLY. If the rest of the video is as high quality and includes the referees, slomos, and full angles, I'll DEFINITELY be purchasing a DVD of this event!

I would be tempted to attribute the clean nature of the bout to Nic. All of the German juniors (which I use lightly b/c really I mean people that were juniors last season when I was and some have also aged out) are very clean fencers. Huebner a little less but even then rather clean. I think if you looked at last year's rankings at least there were 9 or 10 Germans in the top 16 of the Junior World Pt. standings, and there was a WC where Nic beat all of the top seniors pretty much in succession to win. The last thing I'd note is that also, if I remember correctly a lot of them come from the same club or started at the same club with the same coach.
