Foil Training dvds and books?

Just looking for a good set of training dvds and books to study when I'm not actually fencing. Anyone know of any and where I can buy them?

It really depends on how long you've been fencing and your level of competition.

The Fencing.Net Equipment Store carries an entire range of books, training DVDs and competition DVDs.

Some specific items that come highly rated:
The Big Book of Fencing, Rudy Volkmann - This is a comprehensive tome on fencing and lays out all of the actions, how to do them and "what can go wrong" with them. Very good read. [Read reviews here.]

Foil Actions CD Rom - [reviews]
This is a CD with 113 video clips and text explaining the action and tactical situation.

Tyshler Footwork DVD: In the Training Videos section. Contains drills for improving your footwork and that is something easily done with solo drills.

I'll come back later and write up the other training and competition dvds that I've received comments on.

Craig

The Tyshler Set ...

is very good. If you want a good laugh, get the vhs one's sold by American Fencers Supply - the ones with Master Selberg giving lessons in his basement. There's one great scene in which at the end of the tape after giving this long lesson, he takes off his mask and lights up a cigarette while giving his summary of what he just demonstrated.

i did not like the Tyshler one at all. the foil cd rom that i bought thru fencing .net store improved my game by 1000% i was able to watch frame by frame the action and study first how the footwork was executed then how they used their blade in relation to what the opponent was doing. then watching it all come together. The written commentary also was very good. it also helped me to understand ROW much better something that at that point i couldnt grasp by watching it at the club(unless of course one light only went off) It is a most excellent training tool
