BTW: Inq, tell us how it went afterwards!
Have a nice time!

Anyway, I've hijacked this thread more than enough. Best of luck for the comp Inq, grab the gold! -

Array Entries are still lagging last year by quite a bit. Were attendees at the 2005 tournament really that disappointed with the experience? Is it the high cost of travel? Is everyone so keenly aware of the time value of money that they're waiting until the last minute to enter? What?
Come on, folks! Don't you want to see Bill Becker kick my keister? You know you do... -

And the weekend prior (equivalent weekend to last year's event) conflicts with some college graduations. And I DO plan to be fencing Memorial Day Weekend.
I was throwing it out there as a possible explanation for the change you noted.
Another possiblity is that large numbers of people wanted to support a new event (generally I'd expect to see more people in a second-year event as you no longer have issues with people wanting a quality event to prive itself before committing to travel, but in theory this could be a contributing factor).

Great event The event was one of the best run and fun events I've been to. Plenty of strips, many of them grounded. Good local tv coverage, great raffle prizes, excellent display of pools and DE's (projected), the evening Cabaret night is fun...the trophy and prize money are great...lot's of great things to see in and around Phoenix.
The weekend this year is problematic, only because to fly in is a bit expensive. I'm betting the numbers will go up somewhat as Arizona and other local fencers tend to wait until the last minute on many tournaments and there are a few A's and B's not listed (in epee with some in foil anyway) that I'm sure will be going.
The Phoenix Cup is well worth going to if you can swing it...I've got nothing but good things to say about it. -------------------

I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to make it till next year at the best, and only if airfares don't keep climbing. -

Array Bah, where are your priorities? It's fencing! You put mere money before fencing?!?!
Besides, spending money on airfares boosts the economy, you know. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -
