Array I'm a dork. Be a dork too. I'm currently working on a brief revision of an old report that's due tomorrow. I'm a civil engineering major, and we had to go to my university's recreation building and analyze members. Well, since my university's fencing club practices there, I thought it fun and appropriate to use an epee as one of my members. Looking back on it, I realized this, and being an extreme dork, I think it's really cool!
"For example, the epée is meant to buckle because supporting the force put on it would cause harm to the person being hit. Since P=Pi^2*E*I/(K*L)^2, the lower the modulus of elasticity, the lower the force at which the epée will buckle and bend. (Since the dimensions and supports are all the same, I, K, and L would all stay constant.) Therefore, an epée with too high a modulus of elasticity would be unsafe."
Okay, so here's the part where you respond. State and discuss any such realizations/knowledge/fascinations/etc. about any part of fencing, and be DORKY!!!
(Yes, I realize the formula isn't completely applicable to this since an epee isn't round, but I'm only a sophomore. Gimme a break.) -
I'm a dork!!!
I got bored over Christmas break, so I decided to build my own weapon test box. Ended up making it cheaper than I could buy one from a vendor. Doesn't look quite as good, but I had fun and it works great.
heh, guess that's what an Electrical Engineering class or two will do to you... -

Array sorry I'm a total fencing dork, but most of the revolves around discussing up coming tournaments and how people I have never met will do. Also frequently posting on this sight etc
