Only if you want the other commuters to make fun of you. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben -

Array Considering what gas prices are right now, a horse doesn't sound to bad. "When your opponent fears you, then's the moment when you give the fear its own rein, give it the time to work on him. Let it become terror. The terrified man fights himself. Eventually he attacks in desperation. That is the most dangerous moment, but the terrified man can be trusted usually to make a fatal mistake. You are being trained here to detect these mistakes and use them." -Frank Herbert, Dune -

The false ricasso they use is nothing more than a semi-flattened piece of copper tubing, which is alright I guess, but on the one I bought, the hole that was drilled through the grip wasn't drilled straight, so the ricasso and grip are off-center from each other and it looks weird. My coach bought one because another student of hers wanted to try an Italian, but abandoned it because he couldn't adapt, and she had no use for it so she gave it to me, and it's now my backup weapon The ricasso and grip are much better aligned on that one too, but I guess I'm just faithful to my weapon.
Do you use a wrist strap with yours when you fence? That was where I got my practice foil from, actually. And the false ricasso has been giving me some problems, so I'm looking for something else to slip in there besides the default one. It's too lose, and when I tried to tighten it, the handle (which would be the brass wound into black polymer one), actually twisted apart somewhat, so I need to get a replacement once my electrical tape fix wears down. Either way, I doubt I'll be ordering another italian from there. I still need to order another backup weapon, and I'll get that from the fencing post.
I've tried adapting a wrist strap to my foil, but I haven't had really good results so far. I think I would prefer to go without a wrist strap, my finger control doesn't seem to suffer without one. -

Do you use a wrist strap with yours when you fence? The triplette false ricassos are rather useless, and slide around too much. If you want you can get one from Tom Rockwell (http://www.tcasfencing.com/supplies....se%20riccasos), who manufactures them out of steel. His false ricassos are shaped boxes that fit around the tang of the blade. They're a little big, but at least you can grip them right.
Kabal fencing has a pretty good list of ways to make Italian equipment from available parts. If you can't get your gear from Negrni or Fencing Post, then this is how to put it together. http://www.kabalfencing.org/parts.htm -

I do think that before the summer is out I will be placing an order with Negrini, and I may pick up one of their false ricassos while I'm at it and try it on my Triplette foil. -
