    Allstar bodycords

A friend of mine just got back from Germany where he stop at Allstar to get some body cords they were reaching into boxes to grab parts to put together his epee body cords the boxes he saw said made in China on them. Another words the body cords part were made in China and assembly in Germany which mean they can claim they were made in Germany. so since Unlmann is also part of Allstar needles to said the parts are made in China. Now Fence for Fun is a german company and they do make all there stuff in Germany and they us to make it for Unlmann. To all you armourers that have slam chinese made stuff more and more of the fencing equipement is being made in China. But we don't see the price go down.

This might explain the drop in uhlmann uniform quality. The uniforms seem to start pilling really easily.

Yeah, you're really better off going with fence with fun at this point in place of allstar and uhlmann.

    Tim,

You think Uhlmann/Allstar's going to move manufacturing to China to save productiuon costs and pass that savings on to the customers?? You know better than that!

Now...I'm looking into some Chiinese manufacturiung myself, but quality comes first for me...not the financial bottom line. If the guy I'[m talkikng to can produce good quality pieces, I'll go with him.

Absolute fencing with Amanda running is getting good quality stuff out of China but she listen to some people about what equipment should be like. With Ted Li advising her and couple others. She taking a big chuck away from Blue Galuet.

Is there a FWF vendor in the US? I looked at their stuff online and it seems to be good quality at even better prices.

I've seen a decent amount of their gear at tournaments recently (barrels and masks, mostly) so somebody is selling it.

Fencing Post is the one I know of right now that's carrying some FWF stuff. I will be in the future, but I need to raise the funds to make buying worth it.

How about Negrini? If you can get over the ungodly cost for the bayonet...

I was just referring to the fact that a lot of the things under the allstar/uhlmann names were made by FWF. So if you want the same stuff you should go with them. Though I'm not sure exactly what they made. Anybody help?

EDIT: Also, if you can indeed afford it, the Negrini Bayonet is widely considered the best style by experienced armorers, and they're cords among the best designs. I just bought the plugs and sockets and put them on my BG cords, but when I can afford it I will probably get one of their cords.

Absolute epee body cord (new) + Absolute socket(almost new) = stuck forever

I now have a one piece epee/cord combination weapon because after just one evening of fencing I can't separate the two. You should see me get dressed, pulling the cord through my sleeve with the weapon attached to the other end of it

Have you tried prying them apart with a screwdriver?

I haven't heard anything bad about Negrini gear, except for a bad batch of masks. However, their FIE stuff is fine as far as I know, and their body cords are great, and available in 2 prong as well as bayonet models.

I have had this happen to me. The problem was that the expanding contact sleeve thing on the pin slid over and the lip caught on a slight lip inside the epee socket. It took a good yank to get the thing out of the socket. This was completely repeatable with that weapon, and I only used that cord in extreme situations after that. It did not happen with all weapons.

As was said before, sliding a flat screwdriver (or other slim prying instrument) between the plug and socket and prying them apart should get them loose. Unfortunately I have no fix in mind to keep it from happening again, aside from changing that side of the plug to a different manufacturer.

I have seen this happen before, and all that was done to remedy the problem was to mash the pins down a bit with a pair of pliers.

Absolute sells FWF stuff, too. I prefer the Favero body cords (epee), btw.
