Array Fencing (Saber) vs. Kendo I came across the following video on YouTube today, which contains the answer to a thousand arguments: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl4xpy7i_Bw
Fencing represent! It's too bad they didn't show more than one touch—I'd expect the kendoka to be surprised by a lunge the first time (kendo footwork is...different), but it would be interesting to see how he adapts. -

Array Will have a watch later.
Not sure this counts as a fencing discussion so I am sending it to the watercooler. -

Array Yeah I saw this a while back. What does it mean? Nothing really. One guy touched his sport tool before the other guy touched him with his sport tool. Kendo isnt a good representation of Japanese swordplay just like sport fencing isnt a good representation of European swordplay. Still fun to watch though. -

Array So I'm assuming that was a touch for the fencer since it was a green light? However you also have to remember kendo isn't just about hitting... so who knows who would get the touch if they were using kendo rules... -
