Velsarious' thread about a Missing WWII vet reminded me of this. William Mohr was my moms first cousin. Interesting how echos of a war that ended over 60 years ago can still be heard. He went missing on his very first mission BTW.

Army investigation allows a fallen soldier to come home
Saturday, March 25, 2006

CHEERS to Army POW/MIA investigators, whose determined efforts led to positive identification of the remains of World War II Cpl. William Mohr of York County. Mohr was last seen climbing aboard a B-24 in Papua New Guinea on Oct. 9, 1944. The plane never returned and his siblings lived with this void for more than 61 years before being notified that Army investigators, following up on dog tags discovered by Papua New Guinea villagers, found the crash site and with it Mohr's remains and personal belongings. The family, after first planning to bury Mohr beside his mother in a York County cemetery, have changed their minds and will place his remains in Arlington National Cemetery next month. Either way, it's American soil and Billy Mohr is coming home.
