It was only a matter of time before someone tried to crack this market with an affordable product. I sincerely hope that this will precipitate a market wide repricing effort.

Adidas wants to price their top of a flashy top line product at 150... fine... no problem, but when companies start pricing at 80+ range for a shoe that is a 25% improvement over a pair of Chuck Taylors, then there's a serious disconnect...

BUT for some reason people keep paying absurd prices... which to a certain extent justifys the retailers position. Dumb dumb dumb

This is clearly a rip off...

I think this is a reaction to the LP Blades, in that they initiated price competition (assuming people were treating them as equal to D'Arts or such), and now that Absolute can tell there's a demand for fencing shoes among people with $50 budgets, they can move in.

    Hm....

There are a variety of differently priced fencing shoes on the market...
And low cost alternatives have been available for some time...

    The Li-Nings are what, $70?
    And the No1's were 60...
    The Estoc are about $100...

Before them, Physical Chess started selling knock offs (not the Starfighters, these originally had 4 stripes)for about $50...

And then of course The Fencing Post produced a shoe for a couple of years...
And I'm sure some old timers out there remember the Blade Challenger...

This niche has been tried before without huge success (with the possible exception of the Li-Nings which seem pretty popular), and the main problem is that the low end shoes tend to be so crappy, that you either bite the bullet and buy Adidas, or you buy some court shoes...

Dont forget the unknown chinese shoe that fencesmart is selling.

I wish fencing shoes were outlawed. They're a crime against knees.

It never fails... No matter how I search, it seems I always manage to bring up something already discussed....

I have seen these on someone

I have seen at least one person in these shoes and perhaps more. But I can't place where. The little orange spots tipped me off.

If I am not just off my rocker these shoes are already manufactured by one person, or are a copy of another already available shoe.
