| no way, the mongoose would kick the weasel's butt. mongooses (mongeese? ) can avoid a striking snake, so they're fast enough to avoid a weasel. plus, rikitikitavi is awesome. does anyone remember that story besides me?

| Of course, neither are "the greatest burrowing predator on the planet". That would probably be the crocodile. Of the family that includes the two mentioned, the wolverine would probably take pride of place... |

| The mongoose is my hero. They kill the most deadly venomous snakes in seconds. Cobras are just everywhere in the rural areas in India. I've always hoped a mongoose would adopt my family. No such luck.
I'm not sure what the burrowing animal thing is about. Mongooses don't burrow. Not that I know of. I had a beagle dog that dug up everything.

| On a loosely related note, one of the foil fencers in my club has earned the nickname of ferret. The moms of the teen girls dislike him, and he may hear of his nickname... but not from me!!! Those moms are very protective. I like that.
I don't think ferrets burrow either, but I could be wrong.

| I went with the mongoose (because, yeah, "Rikki Tikki Tavi" was my favorite story as a child). Nag... Nagaina... Ssssssssss.
But if I had my druthers, I'd vote for a fisher. They're in the same family as weasels and wolverines, but for something that appears so cuddly, they're vicious beyond belief. They take down porcupines, deer, all of my neighbors' cats... They hunt from the ground AND from the trees. The sound they make is reminiscent of a human being brutally murdered. Downright eerie, those screams are! We hates them, nasssty fishercats.

| if we're talking (typing whatever) burrowing animals, moles are the best! and shrews are really really vicious. they eat and kill almost 24/7.
but otters from the weasel family are amazing fighters too. don't leave them out!
