Rick Shellhouse | If you cant duc' it...
I just use a hacksaw and get a great arm workout while I'm at it, but mostly becouse I don't have large enough bolt cutters or a dremel (I realy should get one). I use a bench grinder to clean it up.

| I normally just bite off the excess, chew it a bit and then spit nails.

| Bolt cutter. Put a towel over the blade when cutting and the tang doesn't fly. Dress the end with a flat file, or bench grinder.
A metric coupling nut (outside hex nut) is another way to "fix" the threads after cutting. Screw the nut on the tang down below where you will cut, make your cut, file off the burrs, then unscrew the coupling nut.
That gets everything working for me.

| I use a Dremel. Just remember the safety goggles. The last time a wheel shattered on me with no goggles, a piece wound up embedded in my face, about 1cm from my left eye.

| Reciprocating saw. So easy, especially after the dull bolt cutter we keep at the club. |

I had given up, and returned to a hacksaw. After reading PF's post last week, I got one of those reinforced cutting wheels, and it works GREAT.
(And, yes, the sparks are very cool! I actually burned-off a small patch of chest hair! I turned off the lights, briefly, at one point to enjoy the show, and then showed my wife. I am easily amused. I should have been singing "Will it float? Will it float?")
