    Section communications.....

One of the downfalls of our section in the past is the communication between divisions, clubs and leaders of the section.

This coming season we are going to try to start allieving that some.

One of the ways will be through a new and improved web-site and an e-mail newsletter. This discussion board is also part of that attempt.

RMS members what are your thoughts? How can we communicate better throughout the Section?

What valuable RMS information do you feel is not being adequately communicated? How is this information not already being disseminated through the USFA, Fencing.net, Askfred.net, etc... hmm?
    Take your time. Read carefully.

Information about the RMSC, contact infomation, Section calendar of fencing events, and other information as needed. We'll alos have an area for each division to put infomation in.

Many of our section members are not on fencing.net and we don't have e-mails and what-not for them and they are often left out. No division knows what the other divisions are doing. The section as a whole is fragmented in part because of distance but also because we don't know what each group is doing.

It is this mentality/atmosphere that we are combatting, but with others working together and being there for the sport, I think we can have a more functional section that all the divisions will benifit from.

So you're saying folks from Sioux City, SD aren't attending tournaments in Phoenix, AZ is because they didn't get an invitation?

There are over 1500 RMS members.

Postage just increased. Where will the money come from?

How often are you planning to send out your mailers?

    Probably just twice a year.

Once at the beginning of each year and then again just before sectionals.

No it's not that I think people will travel 1500 mile to an event just because it's in the newlsetter but everyone feels so isolated in our section, this may help everyone to see what others are doing and I do think it'll have tournament numbers for the neighboring divisions

    communication to section members

The Colorado Division has an effective e-mail list. At tournaments the bout committee asks all who sign up if they are receiving division e-mail and adds people to the address book right then and there.

Perhaps sectional announcements can be broadcast through the division e=mail lists.(at least for those divisions who have one up and running)

I believe the division secretary, Carol Pfarr operates it. Certainly she is the one who collects the email addresses for the list. She can be reached at carolpfarr@msn.com
