i have yet to wear a truly good fencing shoe- and those adiSTARs don't look so great. they seem to have soles that are too thick...

.... If you're in high school and have shin splints from fencing, you need to 1. go see a doctor to figure out how to NOT have shin splints anymore (my guess? cutting back on fencing, then ramping up to full intensity slowly, followed by instructions to help them not come back, which might involve custom insoles, exercises, or just being careful.)

If you already have knee pain and shin pain, scrimping on a shoe we all agree is NOT a good idea is a BAD IDEA.

With a little work, you can find Stabils-- a shoe that isn't perfect for everyone, but many agree is good-- for less. link

If you want to be able to continue fencing, you have to take care of your body.
