    St Louis fencing?

I'm a sabre fencer who's going to be living in St Louis this summer...how is the fencing 'scene' in St. Louis? I've checked out the STL division website but it's rather confusing (and somewhat garishly colored). does anyone have any first hand experience with clubs in the area, especially for sabre?

    thanks!

    Hi,
So there's mainly three clubs in the STL area, and all have some good saber fencers: Parkway Fencing Club (Monday and Wednesday Nights), Academy Fencing Club (Tuesday and Thursday Nights), and Gateway Fencing Academy (M-F Nights and Sat mornings) [There's also a couple of saberists w/ Wash. U. in StL, but they don't meet during the summers, etc...]. PM me and I'll give you more info, etc... :-)

edit: here's links to all of the STL division clubs: http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/stlfencing/links

You may also be interested in the Classical Fencing Society (www.cfssda.org). We have our main branch in St. Louis at St. Louis Universty (slu.cfssda.org). David Achilleus is the instructor there. Dueling Sabre is among the weapons studied. The second branch is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at Marquette University (mu.cfssda.org).

Chuck is the coach at Parkway Fecning and he does sabre. Parkway was the premieur club in St.Louis when I was there. But they didn't like use coming over from Scott and win several of there events. The do have a very good armourer in the area name of Chris Green
