How do you take "coup"? Hi
One of our newer club members, an un-classified foilist with a lot of potential just came back from a big open epee. He came into the club wearing a t-shirt, home lettered with I-B-E-H on the front. It stands for "I Beat Eric Hansen" What a hoot! As you know ( or should) Eric is now the #1 epeeist in the US. Our boy beat him 5-4 in the pools ( our boy was also DFL). But like we always tell everyone -"Anybody can go down at anytime if they don't do the right thing !" What an ego booster, huh?!

Good for him! I managed to give the top finisher in our pool his only defeat, too. Felt good.

attila, congrats to your friend! I've seen Hansen around my division and he's pretty incredible - he's a nice guy too, not like some of the arrogant fencers you run into.
Actually, I fenced him once (foil, not epee) and managed to get about, uh, one touch on him ...
But I know how great those kind of victories are... as an unclassified fencer, I once beat a C-ranked girl (who is one of the best fencers I know)by a score of 5-1 and it was one of the most exciting moments of my fencing career thus far(also a story which I tell to practically every fencer I meet, so it was inevitably going to end up on this board at some point)
