My way to glue an Epee

It has always sucked to glue epees since unlike foil, there is no groove to hold the wire in place when the glue dries. Often times there are sections of the blade where the wire doesn't want to stay down like at the tip and base. Over all it is hard to get a wire to lay down evenly.

So I have come up with a more intelligent way to wire: I use a pimple remover device . You can buy it at any Savon or Rite-aid store. I thread the wire though the metal loop and guide it down the blade as I am gluing. The tension from the small metal loop staightens out the wire and lays it down flat. Very little glue needs to be used so there is no mess. A perfect glue job.

I spot glue with superglue just behind the tip and at the bottom of the trough near the tang, then glue the rest with Cementit. A dab of superglue and hold it down with a jeweler's screwdriver.

you can get

the same results without buying the pimple thingy. Very carefully, hold the wire perpendicular to the groove of the blade. Using your thumb, carefully run your thumb down the groove feeding the wire into it. This puts a slight bend in the wire opposite of the blade bend, making it want to stay in the groove. Then with the blade flat, wrap the wire around the tang and spot glue at the base of the tang. Once dried, bend the blade and finish glueing. Wire stays down thanks to the "bend" you put into it while inserting it into the groove. Just don't pull too hard on the wire while feeding it into the groove, you'll break it. Though the pimple thingy sounds like an idea to try.
