In fact college coaches will never actually go after you unless you're very highly ranked. You have to initiate the conversation, preferably before you apply. There are blackout periods, so if a coach doesn't return your calls/emails immediatly don't take it personally, they're just following NCAA rules.

| Contact college coaches by e-mail. If you are not yet at the summer of your junior year, coaches cannot contact you by any means EXCEPT e-mail. If you leave them a phone message, they can't call you back. But most will be happy to return your e-mail, and arrange a meeting when you come later to visit their campus. |

| lots of ideas about getting into the school, but what about once you are accepted, what steps does one take to actually get on the team? i was accepted into a school as a transfer student to start in the fall. i have 3 years elegability left. any ideas about making the team, steps that need to be taken, etc? also, i do not need any scholarships, i have arangements to get a considerable discount already.

Also, if you haven't registered with the NCAA clearinghouse yet, do that now too. The coach will tell you when practices are, etc. Most teams have tryouts of some kind the first week of practice.

The answer varies greatly depending on what team it is (with issues like team quality and available roster spots). A good first step is e-mailing the coach, and possibly team captains as well. |
