Fencing.net Reels Has anyone used the reels sold on fencing.net? If so how do they compare to other reels? Are they custom made for fencing.net? I can't figure out exactly what model they are from the picture. And I can't find a reel anywhere else that looks similar and isn't at least 50 dollars more.
Also, while I'm at it, does Fencing.net sell floor cords anywhere? I can't seem to find them anywhere, but I'm thinking if they sell reels they most have floor cords listed somewhere. -

Array fencing.net sells Leon Paul reels. The only experiences I have had with them are years old ones. When they have problems they are annoying to fix, and I have encountered many problems. However, knowing the way Leon Paul is constantly working on their designs I wouldn't be surprised if many of those problem areas are much improved.
If you're looking for reels and floor cords I would suggest this deal from Sword Masters. You get 2 favero reels, 2 floor cords, and carrying case for $630. Favero reels are extremely durable. I have not heard of or had any problems with them. I have seen some that were very beaten up, probably run over by a truck or two, and they still worked.
EDIT: MPL just brought to my attention that Zivkovic sells basically the same deal but east coast based and hopefully slightly more reliable, only $25 more.

Array Eh, swordmasters is pretty reliable, you just have to be sure that the arent going to be at any large national competitions when you want your stuff shipped. I needed a blade right around Summer Nationals last year for an unrelated tournament, and it didn't arrive until sometime afterwards. It was my fault as I didn't notice the announcement that they were going to be out of town on their website. Zivkovic reels are Favero ones, there shouldn't be any difference between them. What do you mean by "slightly more reliable"?
Favero reels are extremely good, though like all mechanical components they are not indestructible. -

Have you followed up with them? -

Array Oh yeah, come to think of it, I had to wait several months for some Favero boxes we ordered. I think the order got lost somehow. Though when I mentioned it to Scott, he did overnight the boxes to us. Ich steige ab, Hab keine Zeit, Muss jetzt zu den anderen Pferden, Wollen auch geritten werden

Array The reels that we sell are the Leon Paul reels. I'll clarify on the store pages.

Array Yes, we sell a reels set from Favero and have been for years.
We were impressed early on with Favero's quality, durability and relative price and thus became his first distributor on the market in the U.S.
We now carry an almost full line of Favero reel products and parts: http://www.zivkovic.com/sub_category...category_id=21

The LP and Favero reels seem to stay put by themselves.
Keep in mind that the Favero is an infant compared to the other two leaders, which have been used heavily world wide and over a couple of decades. We have a set of Faveros in our club, and we love them, but I am still slightly concerned about their long-term durability, simply becuse they have not had time to prove themselves. Frank Pratt

True....but that ALSO means they can learn from the mistakes of other reelswithout all that painful harming-of-the-rep process... -

Cannot wait to see your new glove!
We have the older LP reals and two sets of teh favaro reels. Both are like any peice of fencing equipement, if they are well taken care of maintained they are good products.
I do wish the favaro reels had a ground wire connector though. -

I on the other hand wish the Leon Paul and the Uhlmann reels did not have the ground wire connector. Some people think they can use that to hook to the piste. The problem is if they do that the Foil anti-fraud circuit will not work. Try this in Foil, with the ground NOT through the real, lie on the ground with the lame' in contact with the piste and have your opponent hit the piste. Nothing will happen, but if you hold your weapon against your lame' and they hit the weapon, touch. The ground for the weapon is NOT the same as the ground on the piste. I know about M.31, which contradicts the requirements in the Appendix. Donald Hollis Clinton, Jr. DHCJr@juno.com

It's in the mail...you should be getting it today or tomorrow. -
Actually, in your copious spare time, a more economical set of overhead reels might do well on the market. Similar Threads -
