| East Coast Tournaments Hey everyone,
I am an east coast fencer who has spent the year abroad in west coast canada. I'm a little out of the loop concerning tournaments back home, also because I'm just starting to compete. Do any of you know of some tournaments with foil events in the PA, NJ, NY, MA areas between May and August this year? I'll fence in anything, just to get the experience, which my coach back in BC says I need. |

| I have to second fencerbills plug of the Pomme de Terre... It is the best tournament you'll find anywhere within that time frame (with the exception of summer nationals).

| Thanks for all the info guys. Just another thing, does anybody know if pennsylvania has divisionals before mid-atlantic sectionals? I think the division my club falls into was just created last year anyway, so I'm not sure how this business is organized. |

However, I can tell you the the Philadelphia division has done away with divisionals. The schedule is crowded in the spring, with all those qualifiers, and once the 100% promotion event was no longer required, we stopped holding it.
Another meet to check out is the Mr. Ma Cup, usually in mid June. It's sizable, although in the past has been rather chaotic. Look on FASJ's website for entry forms. It's listed on FRED, but you can't register there. |

| If you are willing to drive down to DC there is a fairly decent sized tournament the Captain Steere open May 20th and 21st http://www.capdiv.usfencing.org/capschtb.htm
Also if you are a women's epee fencer the Amazon Open June3rd is a good tournament |

Cool! I missed last year - didn't seem worth competing when I hadn't had a chance to train in a solid year - so didn't get to see the turn-around. This makes me very excited. |

| I can recommend any tournaments held at the Mendham Fencing Club in New Jersey. They're a bit expensive and mainly open to beginners, but they tend to be superlatively run. I've reffed a few (and will do so again at the Div 3 epee on may 5) and I've really been impressed with them. Bear in mind that preregistration is required and the number of slots are limited.

They did away with that requirement this year. No qualification is required.
If you are asking if the Northeastern Pennsylvania division has a seperate Div. II/III qualifier, then I'm not sure.
Note that the entry dealine (w/o a $30 late fee) is April 8. I believe you can register online at www.askfred.net.
