    OTOH, I got this effect from two different opponents, and it didn't happen to either when they fenced each other. Could the grounds have cancelled each other out or something?

    If it happened with two different opponents, it sounds like it has to do with you. Or the reel cord on their side. Or they both have the same set up, so it doesn't matter that it is two different people.

    I can't think of any way that he can be causing this.
    As I understand it:
    Inq hits opponent's blade, which is dangling (in later tests) by the bodycord. A touch registers.

    The only way for this to happen is a connection between Inq's B-C line and his opponent's A line. Therefore, there must be a connection between his opponent's A line and their B or C lines (as that's what his sabre is touching when he hits their blade).

    Yes, there has to be a problem with his opponent's B/C shorting to the A at some point in the system. Is this a trick question?
