    Fencing in Elle Magazine

In my new issue of Elle, I noticed that they have "sports inspired clothes". On the very first spread of the series it features fencers, for their suede fencing attire. LOL
Least its a little more promo.

Oh yes, its just ridiculous attire. White yes, but no padding and way to couture.
Was shocking though, to browse and see it

I am not to be suede by the winds of fashion...

Gag...do they have to make a fluff ball out of such a cool sport? No wonder we're considered "elitist"...blah!

    I'm not a fashion fancier.

What's next? H20 football pads (like the water bras)?

they did have the clothes inspired by other sports, football basketball, even like water polo. It was very funny, but Elle is known for its odd clothing I believe.

Do you have a date/page reference? After seeing this I (briefly) skimmed through one at the grocery store but didn't find it. Not sure if I was just looking at the wrong issue or if I just missed it.

    Thx.

I don't get it. Maybe there are more pictures in the print issue, but...

    go here:
    http://www.ellemag.com/elle/fashion/...ow/index_c.asp

I guess the fencing inspired one is the third one down.

I get the impression that the designer hasn't done much fencing.

    Some quotes:

‘I like the opposition between restrictive fencing gear and freeflowing dancewear,’ Marant told ELLE.com. '
    and

'and a fencing sword and helmet were the only things missing from a white quilted blazer. '
I must be getting old, but what a bunch of tripe!

I'm right there with ya, Paolo. I'd rather wear fencing gear than most "fashions" today.

I finally found the issue. The jacket was kinda ok. What makes it look "cutting edge" to outsiders is simply where the closure is for fencers. We know why it's so far off center, buyt someone who doesn;t know the sport would thinki t was innovative.

$2,400.00? They ARE on the good stuff! All of my gear -- the customoized bag included -- wouldn't add up to that much! What's the point?

Oh, yeah...it's "high fashion," There IS no point.

What upset me was that no one showed the model in the actual fencing gear how to hold a pistol grip properly. if you look, you can see her middle finger's on the upper side of the grip. And her off hand position...I haven't seen the 90 degree angle since 1981!

I kinda DID like the "fencing outfit by Allstar" listing, tho'...buried as it was with the rest of the clothing credits.

And did you notice she had a sabre mask, a foil lame, and a non-electric practice foil?

Yeah, I noticed that the second time I looked at it. Sure, the sabre mask looks flashier, but yeesh!

And this is precisely why I posted it.
    (1) so that we would know of a slight bit more advertising
    and
    (2) how badly they can mess up that advertising to the people that actually do it.

    LOL

I think she was also holding the grip wrong... I found it really funny. Actually the outfit doesn't look *too* bad, despite the (horrendus!!) cost.
