Array Exercise Im sure you can tell Im bored.(Ive been making threads all over the place.)
Ive been lifting weights, jogging/hiking, etc. But I was wondering if there's a good routine you guys may want to share. I mainly want to work on my calves, but everything needs work so any hints would help.
Also, what do you do to keep yourself youthful? -

Also, what do you do to keep yourself youthful? Sleep with people that are significantly older than myself. Makes me feel so young and alive! (Just kidding. Really.) -

Array Lol. That always makes me wonder, when I see 20 year old chicks marrying 80 year old dudes. I dont mind the occational 20 year difference, but 60+ is really creepy. -

I use the search function on this forum - moving the mouse provides enough exercise for my wrist, clicking buttons - for fingers and reading all the information that is already here - for eyes. And all that - without boring people with questions that show up almost every time someone new joins the forum -

Hi, All..
as usual, "tooo cute!!"
so, Maester? if some age difference is OK,,,,but lots is yukky, what age difference could you withstand?
lol
for Fencergrl..
i agree with you, so i married her...20 yrs ago ;-)
we fly to Paris in 30 days to celebrate the anniversary !!
silly and very boring "calf" exercises are out there, but as has been said...
just fence more !
Back to the "age difference"...why do we so often see the older guy/ younger gal, and so seldom see the reverse?
is that like the unfair "playboy", vs "bad girl" situation?
hmmmmm???
who remembers the movie "10"?
the question was asked at the Mexican bar in the movie....
y'all think it is because ladies stop having children in their 40-50's, and guys keep going ?
just a thought ;-) -

just a thought ;-) Oh, Larry, Larry, Larry... Just because women stop having children in their 40s and 50s (which seems a bit late to even me), doesn't mean we STOP... We just earn a reprieve from birthing babies. Consider it a reward for a job well done. -

Array Fencing more is not the answer, because you might end up like me. You see, I have muscle asymmetry because I didn't lift weights a lot when I started fencing. In fact, my left outer calf (that would be my back foot) is so much stronger than my left inner calf that at times in a bout, I feel a great strain pulling on my shin bones. "What, really? I thought that song was just about a dragon who lived by the sea and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee."
"Dan, you're such a dumb*ss"
Read it, be happy: Funny -
Hi SwordLady!! ;-)
lol
i never said it was so....i just wondered why it is so common to see a lady with a gent who is older...and so rare to see it the other way around....
< giggles > youth isnt the only thing wasted on the young~!~! -

Also, try calf raises for your calves. RebelFencer's Awesome Quote of the Week:

Also, what do you do to keep yourself youthful? The calves have 1 way to grow. That is to break them down, so they grow back stronger. Doing this is easier said than done though. The reason for this is that the calves easily lift your entire bodyweight on one foot for many repetitions. To start off, try jumping rope, its good for your calves and your fencing. It will add some inches pretty quick. After that, you have to do some pretty sick stuff. Try donkey calf raises. Also, the calves, despite popular belief, are not predominately fast twitch or slow twitch. They're a mix, because they are used for walking and fast movement. This means you need to do high rep and low rep training. For high rep, 100 reps is good. For low reps, try to aim for failure between 9-12 reps. This means that any repetition over 12 is just impossible. Also, calves generally recover very quickly, so you can train them pretty much as often as you want without problems. I've never seen anyone over train there calves. Just make sure to work the anterior tibialis, because if your calves are too strong in comparison, you might have a shin splint problem. Just remember that training calves sucks, and its boring, so don't give up. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben -
