    Indoor soccer shoes?

The use of indoor soccer shoes has come up in a few threads, and I was wondering if there was a general feeling regarding their use. I've had no luck with adistars or stabils, and I'm tempted to try a pair of adidas climacool salas. It looks very similar to the viktoria, only much, much cheaper. While the old school sambas lack the kind of sole/padding a fencer would need, some newer indoor shoes by adidas, kelme, and nike all seem to have details found in fencing specific shoes. I have a hard time believing that the shoes currently available for fencing are much different than a soccer "court" shoe. Feedback appreciated.

Well, I currently use a pair of Puma "Speedcat" shoes. They were sold to me as indoor soccer shoes (the store claimed). They've provided good grip and have held up nicely on the outside. My only complaint is that the sole is very narrow and I can occasionally feel my foot sliding off of the side of the sole. Also, the insole is beginning to come unglued. Now, this is after about 6 months of use... so I'm not too upset in the $55 shoes.

I do plan on getting either some Stabils or some Leon Paul shoes as soon as I have the cash, however.

Ehhh, I have a pair of soccer shoes that I technically use to practice in, but I really don't use them that often. They feel differently and move a bit differently than my fencing shoes...might just be me though.

Does anyone think that they might be too sticky. Im thinking af a ruberized type of sole that would grab the ground.

that would be a plus on dusty gym floors right? the stabil has those soles too and provides good grip, but nothing close to hindering movements.

i've yet to encounter a shoe that gives too much grip. often it's the case of the opposite.

    Good Year Adidas Shoes

I recently purchased my first pair of shoes with fencing as their sole purpose (no pun intended). My previous shoes were used for other things and were street-worn prior to beginning fencing. The new pair are an Adidas model that I would just call the "good year" since they are apparently cross-promoting the tire brand. The sole is flat, albeit a bit narrow side-to-side, but provides excellent traction on a gym floor. They are similar in profile and design to the Adidas d'artagnan (II?), but apparently are in fact a "driving shoe" such as an auto racer wears. The line comes in many colors, but there are 2 sole styles depending on the specific shoe color/style. The flatter one which I wanted only was available on the black w/ black stripes (which I chose) or the black w/ red stripes model. Those were the only choices available at the store at the mall anyway. The other versions of the style (like all the white ones...) had an amber/honey colored bottom with a waffle-sole, but they had a gap between the heel and front sole sections. I have been satisfied with these shoes and they were reasonably priced, even for a mall store, at around $75. When these wear out, I will likely get them again, if still available and may be able to get them online for less, now that I know how they fit me.

I'll second angriff's comments. I had a pair that I loved, but they only lasted a year. Went looking for more only to find that indoor soccer shoes are seasonal. Gee, I wonder why? Also found that the soccer stores are definitely oriented toward the adolescent market with only a slight acknowedgement toward adults. Gee, I wonder why? But I found the shoes to be much more reasonably priced and more comfortable that the pair of fencing shoes I bought.
