Chess Fencing? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess_boxing. This is what happens when I surf Wikipedia late at night. Could it be done for fencing? Our sport is already called "physical chess", which has even translated into a brand name. The pen may be mightier than the sword, but why pick just one?

Yeah, I once came up with a similar sport... it was called Chess Sex... never caught on though.  Seems it was too difficult to concentrate on playing with your pieces after you'd been, uhmmm... playing with your pieces.
Damn you Murray Head for putting the idea in my head... damn you to Hell!!!

1 min Blitz game during the break between DE periods, perhaps.
Would USCF chess ratings have to be used in addition to USFA fencing ratings in order to seed tournaments fairly??
What timings would be used for the chess portion?? Would the clocks have to pass USCF and FIE inspection??
Or, a different way to look at it...two teams play eachother with one fencer on each team representing one chess piece. The captains make the moves, and each capture in the chess board results in a bout, which could go either way...
