Is it that hard to spell "why"?

Mr. Saber dude, one of the guys at my club, thought that why was spelled "wy." I would just like to clarify that despite Phil Jackson calling Sacramento a "cow town," most of us, do infact, know how to spell basic, third grade words. Maybe this young man from my club doesn't have a very good parry 5, and that's why he can't spell "why." (one too many cuts to the head is my guess) He also makes saber fencers look bad in general. On his behalf, I would like to apologize for his lack of spelling skills, and for his abundance of ignorance and arrogance.

    Dear Moonitic,

SabRE, can be spelled two ways: Saber, or Sabre. I switch between the two, but neither is more correct than the other.
    Lauren.
P.S. As for the perry v. parry... you are correct, I got mixed up because we have two fencers by the last name of Perry at my club. Guess I shouldn't bag of people who can't spell well if I can't even spell parry... But in my own defense, at least I can spell "why."

Sabre IS spelt Sabre - not Saber. People who do Sabre should correctly refer to themselves as Sabreurs (which is much better than Sabrist anyway).

However I have to hold my hands up and say that my spelling on message boards can be bad. This is due to my poor typing skills more than my literacy.

I think they should add a spell checker and grammer checking option when posting messages. It looks like its needed to me. I've seen that on other message forums.

you shouldn't worry about how you look, no one will think you're stupid, it doesn't matter, no one can spell, that's why spell check was invented ....we're all so busy, no-one has a chance to review everytning, this isn't for pbulciation anyway, so don't worry, butt out, asd;flkapoui[k[uq[nv;alkjjsd;lkfx'cvk]aiwn ljfpsasio bye

SabRE is the British way of spelling it and sabER is the American version. They're both correct.

ummm, "sabre" and "saber" are both right, "sabre" is the french way (i beleav?) and "saber" is the american way, so in fact they'er both right, and the fact of the matter is, when saberchick says "saber", we all know she means "sabre" and when moonitic says "sabre" we all know she means sabre or saber they'er basicly the same, so infact your both right

Yeah I think all the linguists ought to gather together and invent a new and more efficient language, and designat it as the offical language of planet earth.
Better yet if someone will just invent a device so we can communicate using our brain waves directly then we will no longer be limited to the primative form of communication of using symbols and words, and then there will be no more misunderstanding. And the world will be a better place.

But........ somehow I suspect.... even then we will still be fencing with wires.. Because FIE doesn't do jack.

When I posted this message, I was referring to Saberdude's topic "Wy Epeeists suck." I personally don't care for this person because of a racist remark he made toward a black fencer at my club, and for his obnoxious behavior in genaral. I meant mearly to poke fun at his ignorance and lack of spelling skills, not to start a war on the correct spelling of sab (re)/(er). I notice a lot of people spell words incorrectly (myself included)on this message board, but really people, lighten up! This was meant as a joke!

    Thanks Arcon,

This guy Saberdude, just really pisses me off. He is a complete idiot. I just wanted to tease him a little.

Umm..sabrechick? What I said was a joke too. It was funny (not in a mean way) that you were poking fun at him for his spelling & you had some mispellings of your own (not really referring to the er/re thing).

I understand how you feel about being angry. A couple people on here have made personal attacks against my club & my division (& me) on the list. Let THEM look like the jerks, though...don't drag yourself down with them!
