End of season tournaments

Any news on Pomme de Terre? How about the Big Apple Open? (registration, times, dates, venues, etc...)

Pomme de Terre will be June 24-25. The New England Division schedule says that the entry form will be on www.neusfa.org or on active.com.

There won't be a BAO event this year. Generally, everybody felt that our past events were big successes! Unfortunately, tournaments of that size are difficult to hold in NYC for a number of reasons. Space is very difficult (read:expensive) to come by. The athletic club is really our only viable option, and it was already tight having it there. Also it is virtually impossible to get volunteers to help with organization, planning, marketing, gathering the necessary equipment, strip setup, and running the tournament. Basically, all the things that make NYC great make it bad for large events. Too little space and too busy people.

We are trying to plan one for next season however.

Here's an untapped resource from within NYC:

Abundance of eager, over-achieving High School students looking for community service opportunities! You'd be suprised what you can accomplish by printing up some recognition of service certifications.

And if you are willing to provide transportion to and from not-so-upstate:

Abundance of eager, under-achieving college students looking for community service opportunities! They'll practically build a house for you!

Isn't BAO normally spread out through several clubs? The last time I went, sabre was at FC, epee at the AC, and foil at the now-defunct Metropolis -- is NAFA big enough to hold a 30-40 person event?
