on my foils i use what Uhlmann classify as their "E" grips, they are also made by allstar & Leon Paul, rather nice. But if i want real good tight fit & control I use my Blade grips, which cause my hand to crap after one 5 hit bout though .....

I strictly fence Epee and I strictly use French grips of various lengths. The French allows the user to move up and the grip freely whitch is nice for fencing various people. I hold it by the pommel most of the time for extra reach. But they require a strong grip for defence, I soemtimes use them along with a martingale, but I have to give the extra reach.

a visconti is fine for epee, personally I think German grips suck. It's really your on opinion, if you like the visconti use it. Frankly, I think in general very few people actually use a german grip. The only ones who are any good that I can think of are a couple kyrgzstani pentathletes, and thats with the ridiculous tangs cut off.
