The Duke men's fencing squad topped North Carolina on the first day of the annual Duke Invitational. The Blue Devils earned half a point in the Carlyle Cup competition, closing the gap and bringing the overall score to 8.5 to 5 in favor of the Tar Heels. The women's portion of the event, also with one-half a Carlyle Cup point, will take place tomorrow at Duke's Card Gym.
