| If you're looking for something local to SF, then you can try "Escrime Line International" which is affiliated with a club in Menlo Park (EMFC). http://www.shopeli.com/?goto=foil/1 |

The character in the middle is a stylized ampersand.

Yes, they refer to themselves on their own web site as "StM".
I am also inept in the rules for URL's, but is an ampersand a symbol that can be used in a URL?
So the name of the company contains an ampersand, while at the same time, they refer to themselves as StM.

Of course, leave it to a standard and it will never be completely applied...

While an ampersand can be used in a URL/URI/URN, an ampersand character cannot be registered as part of a domain name. While a domain name is often part of a URL/URI/URN, domain names have stricter requirements even under the IDN (Internationalized Domain Name) RFCs.
For example, you can't register "S&M-fencing.com" because of the ampersand character even with registrars that handle IDN registrations. Oddly, there are some registrars that have adopted something called "name prep 8" that will allow registering names such as: s†m.nu or s♡m.nu but even those registrars don't permit the use of an ampersand & in a domain name.
btw, the reason for my guess that the M in SM stands for Makarushenko:
Domain Name: STM-FENCING.COM
Registrant:
Andrey Makarushenko
Danilevskogo str., 33 ap.38
Kharkov, UA 61001
UA
No idea on the "S" though. |
