| This one is for Peach OK, really not only for Peach, but for all veteran sabre fencers. Nellya Fencers is hosting the Veterans Cup and Sabre Master Class on May 27-28, 2006 at Nellya's Atlanta location. We also plan a lot of entertainment (such as dinner party etc.) It will be fun. At this point we are open for helpful suggestions as to what would you like to see covered in class. We will definitely do stretching techniques, some age-appropriate drills etc, but also a possibility is a nutritionist/psychologist/....ist? |

| I picked up a flyer for it in Reno and have entered it into my calendar! Both nutrition and sports psychology are important topics and I'd love to see either covered.

| In addition to nutrition, is it possible to have a SHORT, NON-SPECIFIC discussion about injuries that are more common in later years in fencing and things we can do to reduce our risks?
I don't heal as fast as I once did and some things don't seem to heal at all.
And by short, I mean probably no more than 15 minutes. |

| There may be more puns out there linking Viagra and sabres but my bet is that we all use a whole lot more Advil. Maybe that product should be a sponsor. However, I try not to dwell on the parts of me that are breaking down. Meanwhile, I have heard that the folks at Nellya host one fine party. Apparently they did a birthday party for their coach a few years ago which has become legendary. So damn the knees, I'm going for the party. They also have a new club and I'm looking forward to seeing it. Supposed to be the biggest private club IN THE WORLD!!!! |

And by short, I mean probably no more than 15 minutes. | Since Dr. Jacobson of Nellya s not only an MD, but also a veteran sabre fencers who knows everything about hurting body parts from his own experience, the answer is definitely YES. And since we don't want to waste all our time on talk (after all there will be a party to attend), it will be short.

| As I have posted before, I am a infrequent-soon-be-more-frequent visitor to Nellya, and yes, they are a very fun group of old people. Most interesting is the way the old people "bribe" the young people into including them into their group--by bringing them cookies and driving them to Burger King before practice! These old people (me included) have definitely created their own niche at this "hotsy-totsy" club....and yes, grumpy old Burtdan yells at them all like they are Olympians, and they just laugh at him!
I am a newbie, but I plan to go for the party. Last time I was there, there were Port-o-johns, (this young kid was actually rocking it back and forth with someone inside!) but there was lots of building activity and hopefully things will be finished up for our massages...er, I mean, the tournament. I will check it out next week and report back. |

| All kidding aside....someone with a marketing brain should talk to the folks who make Viagra. What better spokesmen than veteran men fencers for the drug. "There's Nothing That Says En Guarde Like Viagra!"
And since Burdan coaches 'Father Jacobson' (US Veterans Mens Sabre National Champion) I will look forward to seeing 'the Maestro' wearing his Viagra t-shirt. |
