    problem with mask bib

    Hello,

I'm having a problem with my mask. The bib keeps flipping up in the middle of a bout. The director has to call a halt for safety while I readjust it. Any suggestions? Someone mentioned using fabric softener on it, but I don't know how I can do this. (It's a competition style foil/epee mask, so I don't see an easy way to remove the bib.)

You could try using some spray sizing on the bib (sizing is a fabric finish that stiffens the article of clothing, akin to starch). If it's a denim or cotton bib, then starch will do just fine.

I have the same problem with my new mask. Its the Blue Gauntlet Olympic one. Sounds like a good suggestion to help with it.

I've been having the same problem with my blue gauntlet mask. Where can you get sizing?

Whenever you get the chance, buy a new mask. It's for your own safety. See what your fellow fencers are wearing.

This is exactly why I recommend the Uhlmann FIE mask. I've never had this problem
