| Custom Fencing Socks Where can I get them? I want some red, black and/or white socks with custom lettering and preferably the proper padding and such for fencing. This would be a bulk order for the club. I've done a little searching around the board and can't really find anything on it, at least nothing recent (since I've been on the board).

Also, are these fencing-specific socks, w/padded shin, or multi-sport long socks?

| Let me tell you who NOT to use - http://www.awesome-sports.com. Quite possibly one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever (not) enjoyed. After repeated requests for a design schematic based upon the ideas I'd sketched out for them, they replied that they "simply don't do things that way" and that I'd have to provide my credit card number before they would give me any further details.
Now, this aside, the actual MANUFACTURER of the socks: pearsox.com, has been pretty decent to deal with, for the most part. They did drop ship me a sample of the socks, and they're pretty nice for fencing actually. And they can do larger sizes, extended calfs, different colors and designs, and they're Made in the USA. Now, if they would just deal directly with customers instead of requiring you to go through an agent....
I've asked them to supply me the name of an agent who will be slightly more focused on customer service. We'll see how it goes.

1. Sock suspenders. Those elastic things that attach to your shirt tails. Could be uncomfortable to fence with though.
2. Compression socks. Possibly you could get these through a medical supply store. They might be tight enough to work. I've also seen some really tight soccer socks, maybe you could try a different brand.
3. If your prosthetic is smooth and slick, maybe putting some grippy glue beads on the inside of your sock band will make enough friction to help them stay up. Or if it won't damage the prosthetic, maybe you could glue some velcro tabs to it?
Hope this helps.
-----------
Edit: Ooo, I just thought of another one. My iPod armband gave me this idea: A piece of elastic with opposing velcro on both ends. You could wrap it around your leg just below the top of the sock. If you could put a buckle on it, you could tighten it down a bit, too.

| David You can email me and I will send you a free sample of a sock that might stay up. If not, I will try to find a solution to your problem. To the other posters, yes my socks are Pear Sox.
Thank you.
