Array All right. Can we please put this thread down. Monotony is just soo not groovy. I think the "check the weight and shim" people have won!

we dont usually have that sort of problem, ost of the fencers here have their own test equipment & people borrow formmates & test their weapons during down time & fix any problems.
i think all fencers should prepare themselves for such problems Reuben

Array But that's why we have these lively discussions! So others around the world can benefit from an open forum of shared ideas and experiences. And I have to ask Dave Neevel again, or better, TELL him: WRITE A BOOK! Or give Craig permission to put your posts together for publication. I've printed a bunch of what you've written, Dave, and keep it in a seperate folder for reference. Thanks again for your insight. -
I agree that it is probably a good idea. I was going to do it at my last tournament but forgot every time.
Out of curiosity I tried to keep see if anyone at the tournament was testing after bouts. The tournament was the Bean Pot Open in Boston (44 epee fencers, B rated). I saw only one fencer check after his DE bouts.
I might have missed some of the pool bouts or the earlier DEs but I saw every bout from the round of 8 on and he was the only one to check after the bout. I can guarentee you that the winner never checked his after any of his bouts. Maybe it was because he had international experience (I was told he was a former Scottish National Champ, so I assume he had some). Anyway in this part of the country it doesn't seem to be a very prevalent thing to do. -
