| New Adidas Fencing Shoe Adidas apparently is launching a new fencing shoe, to replace the adistar and dartanagn II.
They call it the Adidas Stabil-Escrime.
Sporting black, blue and silver, it looks alot like the adistar fencing shoe, and it also has a rounded heel. The inner and upper portion of the shoe is protected with an AdiTuff section, the same material they use for the outsole of the adidas tennis shoes. They come in an asymetric version for foil and sabre fencers, and a non asymetric version for epee fencers. The traction for the epee shoe is made up of tiny bristles which adapt to your particular bouncing style. The fencing specific design of the adistar, with the support and durability of the stabil.
Epeeists Justin Tausig and Jim Carpenter have been selected to test the shoe. Foil and sabre candidates have yet to be selected. The shoe will be available for purchase in early 2007.

Because I loved the shoes before, but the new material is so soft that mine split across the toe, sliced down the outside of the rear foot (pinky toe area), and shredded half way up the inside middle of the rear shoe in only six months. I do fence a lot, but I fenced a lot with all of my previous shoes also. |

. | Hmmm... you're sure you did not make that up?
Because to me, it looks like the pic is a photoshop work based on the Leon Paul, the Adistar and the stabil shoes...
And honestly, I don't see why Adidas would choose the two fencers you mentioned to test that shoe!
You were bored today? |

You were bored today? | Hah! yeah, I was playing around with ideas in my head of what the ultimate fencing shoe would look like. Sometimes my imagination takes me too far. I just wish I had waited for april.

| The Adistars don't fit me so I've never worn them, but I've seen them fall apart firsthand a few times, after a few months of use. Lemme tell you, if I'd payed the $200+ retail for those and they fell apart after a few months, I'd be pissed.
I had a pair of D'Artagnan II's for 2 weeks- that's how long it took before the left toe section seperated from the sole.
Right now I'm wearing Assymetrics which I'm very happy with, they haven't fallen apart yet but I've only had them for a month or so.

| Ahh, yeah...I've heard that mileage may vary with the shoes. But if I had dropped around 200 bucks on a pair of shoes, I would keep them on a satin cushion and have carried out of their protective container only when needed. My Dart I's have actually lasted almost three years of harsh training, so I'm happy with them.

If you paid $200.00 for something, I know where you would keep it or them… See you Saturday.

You are tough on shoes. Adidas should give you and Rebel a couple of pair each for a test. If any thing is left after the test, have them cast in plastic or bronze whichever.
If you look at some old NFL films, wide receivers would coat their arms and hands with stick’em. Now that stuff, on yo’ feet would give you some traction.
Saturday

chiz | haha, I'm not that rough on my equipment! I had a glove last three years! But yeah, depending on my ride situation I'm either gonna be with ya'll this weekend or over in friendly North Carolina. Good to see you're coming to fence at our tournament on the 8th.

On the other hand, the regular Stabils are less than $90. If the price for these "Fencing" Stabils is over $100, I'm not going to see a need to switch over...
BTW where did you hear about this? Is there a press release on one of the Euro Adidas web sites? | haha, oh Noah, you are just ants in a picnic!
