Prince Takamado Trophy Cup WC & GP - Tokyo

Update:

We're in the middle of the annual Prince Takamado Trophy Cup in Tokyo, Japan, which includes a women's foil grand prix (individual and team) and a men's foil world cup.

Today was the final in women's individual ... in the semi-final, Gruchala took out Granbassi without much trouble to make it to the final. Korea's Mi Jung Seo won gold, taking out Gruchala with surprisingly little opposition.

Tomorrow will be women's team and men's individual. Alphonzo Carter (USA) got a bye because of his standings, and Clinton Kershaw (USA) went 5-1 in his pools today to seed well for the 64. So we'll see what happens tomorrow ...

We should have photos up on FencingPhotos.com pretty soon from this event as well as from Shanghai. I know everyone will enjoy the photos from the bout between Gruchala and Granbassi ... !

Clinton Kershaw went out in the 64, and Alphonzo Carter made it into the 16.

Peter Joppich (GER) took gold against Japan's Yuki Ota.

Incorrect, according to the FIE results (http://www.fie.ch/Competitions/Resul...33B70002CE23F2) - it appears that Nam won and not Seo.

You're right; my mistake. I should have looked at the jacket name in one of my own photos (!)
