As I remember it: The guy (I don't remember his name) was fencing James Havens to get into the semifinal and he seemed to emotionally unravel as the bout progressed. Robby Carrillo was directing. Havens was up something like 11-5 when the guy basically punched the strip with his weapon hand. It was so loud that it seemed like everyone in the venue paused in a "what the @$%& was that?" kind of way. At that point I think Carrillo had seen enough and blackcarded him.

It might be more appropriate to thank JEC for posting a *link* to the full results but also thank the SW section web person who actually 1) quickly put the full results up and 2) put the result on a web site that stays up and accessible (unlike the usfa site)

Vet 60

Congrats to Ray Sexton! Anyone know why Vet60 team member Joe Elliott didn't compete?

No idea. I had a very tough Vet60+ ME pool to direct though. Of the 6 fencers, 5 ended up in the top 8, including Ray Sexton, who only won one of his pool bouts. Fnetter jjeffries did somewhat better, though the pool winner was Mr. Pary.

And then went on to win the event. Bravo!

Puts a bit of a dent in the theory that if you do poorly in pools you are a "scrub" and should be cut from the event at that point in the name of making a "more competitive" event, huh? :

I also watched him mount a comeback from a 4-9 deficit to win a DE in Vet 40 MS, BTW...

I'll certainly say it: Good job! I was pleasantly surprised to see most of the results up by Monday night.

And now for the left hand: The website says that point standings have been updated as of 3/14, but the ones I looked at have not changed and do not show points from Reno...
I looked at most of them and the only one not updated was M50E.

Yeah, sorry---I've deleted the complaint. It's a relic of the fact that I have to access those files via the "cached page" function---the PDFs will not load on this sad excuse for a computer I have to use.

It is indeed awesome--Top four on the 50-59 team standings and 60+ team standings in each weapon after Summer Nationals (best two out of three points from national results, with World Veteran Championships points dropped) will qualify for the world 50-59 championships in Bath, England.

I didn't see Joe and Suzanne (his wife) this weekend at all, though I recall paging them, they were entered. I heard several people had issues with weather and other travel mishaps.

I missed the SUmmer National events and didn't follow up with reading who did what. I truly miss fencing, so every once in a while I read up again. I saw the German girl did very well with epee, I'm really glad to see that epee is getting some press. [now watch the foilists go nuts] anyway.....New Orleans, I was looking for a few people to do well, mens epee, under 21, but I can't find them, they should be doing something, and I did notice that the girls didn't shine as much this year. I hope they make a strong comeback. Hoping to see Caligula bounding down the strip in epee - [a fond nickname for a good epeeist]

Greetings akaiyuki,
Ms Dreeland tried to withdraw between the 8 and 4, because she felt unworthy of earning a B. I talked her back from the ledge after the BC told her she had to fence.
