    Question about the roleplayers here..

does anyone here roleplay white wolf and would care to give me some feedback on a fencing character that im working on ??

this is what I have sofar.. I dont have a name yet but his age is late 20's.

He has always been interested in swordplay, watching Errol Flynn as Robin Hood when he was little.

He got started in swordplay in Miami his freshman year of high school when he attended
a renaissance faire and saw a living chessgame. There were kids about his
age doing fights, falls, flips, and generally looking pretty cool. Within a couple of months, he was performing in his first show.

He also learned how to joust, some horseback riding, juggeling, gymnastics and stunts while working the local faires.

He was eventually made captian of his school's fencing team, doing both competition and reenacting fencing, and winning numerous awards in the process. In addition to choreographing some of his school play's fight scenes, using what he had learned to his advantage.

His preferred weapon was the Rapier & Dagger, though he was also trained with the short sword, katana, sword and shield and Fencing (Foil, Epee, Saber) as well.

he also knows the kind of skills you develope in competition would be totally useless in a real fight. At times he is more of a theatrical fighter. the problem with that is that he is trained to attack with the appearance of force. the good thing about fencing as a sport is that because the swords bend and you are rquired to attack with penetrative force. it means that if you ever had to fight for real your reflexes and sense of distance would be correct for running someone through.

In addition to learning how to fight in armed combat, the character got interested in martial arts as well, and along with learning kendo, he learned aikido and jujitsu (sp?) knowing that he was not always going to have a weapon handy.

by the time the character was in his mid 20's he was the State champ in fencing for 3 years running, a 2 time national semi finalist and on several occasions a probal contented for the olympic team when it comes to fencing.

Why does he do it though? I get he liked it as a kid and watched to get into it...but why? Well it interested him. Those kids looked like they were having a blast doing it and it looked like something that he could get payed for and enjoy doing

Does he realise hes a natural and will expliot that for money? yes he does and is somewhat leery of those people.

Did his parents die by the sword when he was a kid and he decided to take up to somehow avenge their deaths(in some twisted way)?

his parents are alive and kicking.

Does he just like to kick *** and feels powerful by handing some dude his *** with a sword?

sorta. he mainly wants to prove that he is one of the best and greats, mainly to himself, more than others. As everyone owes that to themselves, to prove that they are good at what they do..

He also preferrs swords over firearms, (NOTE: I said he does not like them, not does not know how to use them..) as all you have to do is point and shoot. with a sword you have to have some degree of skill..

Welcome to the "dark side" of the message board. Though that isn't the type of "role play" that we do, character-wise, yours is pretty good. I can't really speak from a gamer's standpoint, though. From a writer's standpoint, it's a good start.

In Fantasy Land, we have our own brand of role play. We're all basically writing one story, as the characters themselves. Poke around a bit to see what I mean.
