I think you answered your own question as to how this would go. I would have liked to have been there to see DFP get his prize confiscated by mom.

Fortunately, you won't be getting that again, as 10 year olds are no longer allowed in Open events.

I think my favorite awards I've earned in terms of legitimate awards and not gag-triophies were a big double handled glass cup for third place in New England junior division championship in 03 I think?
And a nice plaque for second place in the Temple Open last year. That plaque was also accompanied by my choice from the gift/prize table, from which I chose a temple football that I still have, still in the box.
I generally don't eat/use things that are prizes at tournaments, maybe it's sentimentality.

One of, if not my most, favorite 'award' for a 'tournament' was my first competition ever. My highschool team/club had just started, we'd all been "fencing" for about a half year when we were to hold a parents/faculty/introduction to fencing night in the school gym. It was obviously very informal, round robin to DEs standard format. I won and received as my prize one of those chocolate oranges. It's been sitting in my freezer at home for about 5 years now

for those who like gift certificates

The Cherry Blossom will be giving gift certificates for Absolute Fencing Gear to the top 4 finishers in each event + a profesional engraving (instead of medals) to the top 4. Let me know what you all think

P.S. Absolute will also be the on-site vendor

How about the pencils they gave out at the last NAC, or maybe the gift certificate for a pair of socks!

With entry fees, and considering the money you could have made instead of fencing, that is probably one of the most expensive potatoes ever eaten.

Many of you have been following my tournament patches thread. Would be be cool to have a patch for each of the top 8 in each evetn to go along with the metals?

Keep the ideas flowing, I like what youre sending this way.
