| Budapest World Cup Yow!! Mariel Zagunis takes 2nd, Dagmara W takes 13, Becca W takes 19th and it goes downhill from there....Sada was 33rd and Caity Thompson finished in the 50s. Hope our team can pull it together for the event tomorrow. I am not sure who will compete; Mariel won't, don't know where Emily J is; can Korfanty choose from whoever is there? But congrats to Mariel! |

| The team was supposed to be:
Jacobson, Sada
Ward, Rebecca
Jacobson, Emily
Baratta, Emma
Mariel and Caity reportedly had "school issues" that precluded them from attending the team event. If Emily did not attend or withdrew from Budapest, then Dagmara would be the logical choice, I suppose, given her best Sr WC effort to date.

| You're right. I switched Sada and Mariel in my head, and Dagmara is in fact the alternate. Last I heard from Budapest the team had made the final two, but it's all over by now. |

| It's actually being fenced RIGHT NOW!!!
It's a rematch of the Gold Medal bout from the World Championships between the Russians and the American's...only with half of the American Gold Medal Team from the Leipzig Championships.
We'll see if Baratta and Wozniak can make up for the loss of Golden Girl Zagunis and help out the ailing Jacobson and Ward teammates.

| The American Team puts up a valiant effort, but succumbs to the Russians 45-39 in the gold medal bout.

| I'm sure that someone will have a definitive answer at some point, but if Jo Hutchinson was Sada's bout in the roound of 64 then yes she did knock her out...from what I heard the gold medal team bout was actually a very good performance that was fouled up by some creative right of way interpretations that surfaced in the last round or so of bouts. So I guess it still makes up for an uncharacteristically off weekend in a bittersweet sort of way?

Thanks,
