| Just got a reservation at the Fairfield Inn, 175 Piedmont Ave NE. Next door to Marta, two stops to venue. Very good AAA rates. Two doubles, $80 plus tax. 404-659-7777

| Question for any Atlanta natives I'm thinking ahead towards accommodations & transportation, and I'm finding the MARTA website a little clunky. The Flash map doesn't offer much street detail, and it's daunting to think of looking at each and every bus line to check its stops.
Could anyone from the area tell me which bus lines actually stop right *at* the Georgia World Congress Center? (the venue) I'm thinking I'd probably be staying at Northside Dr and Fair St., which is about a mile and a half southwest of the convention center.
Thanks! |

| I looked and got something from it.
The GWCC is at West 1. The hotels listed at THS are at East 1.

| Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately (you're referring, I believe, to the rail system, not the bus routes) it looks to me like the nearest rail station would be as far away from my proposed hotel as the convention site is. I could just walk, I guess, but I get grumpy at the idea of dragging my rollbag for a mile and a half. :-P
[edited to add, the hotel I'm looking at is not one of the ones listed with THS] |

| There is another thread on Atlanta on which I noted that I got a reservation through AAA for 2 doubles for $80 plus tax at the Fairfield Hotel. One king for $73. The Fairfield is next door to MARTA stop E1. The Fairfield is small so it will fill quickly.

[edited to add, the hotel I'm looking at is not one of the ones listed with THS] | The bus routes will tend to go to Five Points, which is the N/S/E/W nexus. The intown stops are all pretty close to each other.
Plan on busing it to five points and then taking the rail from Five Points to the GWCC.

Edit: Ha! I was wrong! Sectionals deadline is the 16th.
One over, one under, finally on target.

| and dont forget if you look out the GWCC doors to about 10 oclock.. you will see the CNN center. If you go in there you will walk into a massive food court! best kept secret of every fencing event in Atlanta! yep you can get breakfast by .. 6 ish at VERY reasonable prices....

| Entry forms Entry forms attached.
Note that the individual doesn't have as a permissible qualification path your finish at last year's Summer Nationals. This is, presumably, an oversight.

This is one of the few examples of attachments where I'm NOT providing information that would otherwise be significantly harder to obtain.
Then again the vast majority of my positive rep comes from people appreciating snarky quips. It's relatively rare (at least for me) that inside information gets repped. Useful coaching bits are probably my #2 source of rep. Those actually do garner hits a fair amount of the time.

O, Sabereurs, Sabereurs, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather you together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing. Look, your sport is left to you desolate, and your rep banks empty. For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the true weapon, EPEE'.
The path of righteousness free, and the gate is open. We shall not be held responsible for your proud refusal of the way.
