| Coach's/Armorer's college The applications for this summer's Coach's and Armorer's college are up. I had a question about the coaches college. On it there are lised three levels for each weapon, however, the website says that there are 5 levels of certification for each weapon. How exactly does this work? What would somebody do if they wanted to earn the lowest level certification in a particular weapon?

| The levels and process of advancing are explained on the coaches college website. Click on "Coaches College" on the right hand side, and then click on "Program" on the left hand side. It is all explained there.
In short, you apply for Level 1 first in a given weapon, and are not eligible for any Level 2 program until you have completed Level 1 in at least two weapons. Eligibility for a Level 3 is even more stringent, and I believe that Levels 4 and 5 are individualized programs "by special arrangement only," so-to-speak.
Anyway, look at the site as I said above.

| Level 4 classes are not being offered this year (or last). Latest report from Alex Beginet (who runs coaches college) is that they will be offered next year at least for foil and epee.
Level 5 is done individually by special arrangement.

| The schedule appears to have been expanded a bit: week long classes are now (up to) nine days long. It appears that they are offering the First Aid/CPR/Sports Safety classes during separate days, presumably instead of during the evenings. Does this mean that the day-to-day schedule will be less intense, allowing for studying at night and/or free time? Are they adding other elements to the programs during the evening?
Am I misunderstanding the schedule entirely?

| I may look into this for the summer.
Our federation hasn't operated any coaching camps, barring weekend sessions, since 2003. I'd assume (hope) this is due to budgetary issues.
In any case I'm looking at another $180 as a foreign citizen annd I'll have to see what kind of weight my aide-moniteur (AAI) carries in terms of USCC currency. |

'Course, the armorers decided we didn't really need our evening off and spent that time picking Dan's brains....

| I wonder if they'll ever do a Referee's College, or is Summer Nationals too much of that already. |

| Actually, I already have my ref cert, but would LOVE to get more refereeing instruction or class time or whatever in Coaches' College. Last year, there was one hour with Ed Richards, and that was it.

| In general, they are all supposed to be the same, with a defined curriculum. Around here at least, there aren't different levels of them like there is with Coach's or Armorer's C. |

| I know I can find an answer to this question by making a phone call or two. The application says that the fee includes airport shuttle. From what airport? Would it work for Denver? It's a lot easier and cheaper to fly into Denver so I'm hoping that would work.

Denver is quite a distance away. 'Course you could rent a car and drive. But that would probably cost more than the flight.
