| I guess unless we're talking about women's hockey?
Didn't they get beat 12-0 by our Canadian team???
Or was that just my imagination?
Hmmph... some birthplace... you must be so proud.

| .........nice job setting me up for a sexist comment there.... not gonna happen...... only 250 women play hockey in Russia and that's a pity..... and giving up only 12 to a far superior Canada is good 'nuff for me. |

I wasn't setting you up. I was simply pointing out that while the men's team beat Canada 2-0... The Canadian women took Gold twice in a row. This deserves some recognition.
If your post was "Yeah Russia... we won against a team that took Gold in the last Olympics....". Fine, it's good to be proud of your mother country.
Also you were claiming Russia as the birthplace for our national sport. As a Canadian, I take exception to that. Hockey originated in Canada.

| No, no, no. He was saying that the score for the team that represents "The birthplace of hockey" was 0.
Like I said:
Damn Russians.
James.

| Very proud of how Canada is doing in all other sports...... sorry, when it comes to hockey I cheer for Russia. Canada has a lot to boast with. So does Russia. I just hate how Canadian media and the majority of Canadians look at mens hockey tourney and Canada's chances as a sure thing, and now everyone will be in the state of shock for a month........ Face it, a lot of countries play it, and play it well. Canada lost not only because something was horribly wrong with their team - Russia played a hell of a game and deserved to win. The only Canadian who really deserved to win today was Marty Brodeur. |

How often do you get to see the best in professional sport duke it out by nationality?
Russia absolutely deserved that win. They wanted it more, played better, worked better as a team and played smarter. I only wished that it was a gold medal game and not a quarter-final.
James.

| Hey... Canada vs Russia hockey match-ups are always something to watch!
Considering how are boys have been playing in this Olympics, I expected to see Russia beat them.

| Speaking of birthplaces.... I recall reading a Russian-language encyclopaedia when I was a kid and it said that the prototype of hockey was invented by French shepherds in teh Alps.. The same frozen poo stuff otherwise... Don't know if there's any truth to that though.
BTW the skier girl who got gold for Canada this morning is hot. |
